Regulations
The NIHL plays to the FIRS Rules (below) in addition to the following league rules:
- Full mandatory safety equipment with no adjustments made must be worn at all times, skates must have their full compliment of wheels.
- In-line skates only will be permitted.
- Players must wear their helmets at all times and have visors, cages and chin straps fastened at all times.
- Kit and stick spot check inspections may take place 15 minutes before each match. All protective equipment must be fully covered. Shirts to have clearly visible no's on the back /in the case of teams shirts colour clashing then the home team must change their teams shirt
- Penalties will be 2 mins for a minor and 5 or 10 mins for a major.
- Match times will be 3 x 15 min periods YD/ JRN/ 21'S/ SEN
- (30sec) time outs per match will be permitted for each team. No time outs permitted in the last 2 mins of the match unless the score is tied or within 1 goal [stop clock rules apply]. If the score is still tied at the end of full time in the semis or finals matches , the golden goal rule will apply. First goal scored, in the 5 minute period, by either team, will win the match.
- Any player/manager/coach issued match + game will miss the next game in same age group which the player/manager/coach team are due to play.
- FIRS rules will apply.
- Goal crease rules will apply.
- No player/manager/coach is allowed in the Officials crease, unless invited by the game officials.
